Barbara Ann Corcoran

 Barbara Ann Corcoran (born March 10, 1949) is an American businesswoman, investor speaking, consultant, syndicated columnist, author, and television personality. The Corcoran Group was a New York City real estate brokerage she established. NRT purchased it for $66million in 2001. Corcoran soon exited the business. Corcoran was one of ABC's initial Shark investors has been part of every episode of Shark Tank. Corcoran had signed 53 contracts as of February, 2020. The biggest deal she signed was her investment of $350,000 into Coverplay for 40%. Corcoran was born in Edgewater, New Jersey, the youngest of 10 children in a middle class Irish-Catholic family. Florence Corcoran was Florence's mom and a homemaker. Edwin W. Corcoran Jr. was her father. He was constantly changing jobs throughout Corcoran's career. Sometimes, her family depended on food delivery for free from a friendly local grocery store. Corcoran states that her father was a drunk who was rude to her mother and condescension. Corcoran had difficulty in school, and was later told she was dyslexic. Corcoran was educated at an Catholic elementary school and then enrolled in high school in Englewood at St. Cecilia High School. Corcoran graduated from Leonia High School with a degree in English after having failed several classes during her first year of high school.
